Most modern scientists are employed by universities, private labs, and the government in various departments, but mostly that of Defense. The small private sector is primarily made up of drug/pharmaceutical companies, chemical manufacturing, and telecommunications.

Scientists are easily recognized by the tools used in their profession, such as glasses, white lab coats, and funky hair. Due to this, it is easy to spot a scientist among a group of laymen.

Many scientists prefer to work in laboratories, funded by large paper companies. However, some would prefer to sit home enjoying waffles while they work. Still others operate only online and commute through the world of cyberspace.
