Claude Rains

Claude Rains is the only pseudonym offered by a mysterious special who lives in New York City. He apparently has experience with training other gifted people (specials) as well as some past association with Mr.Noah Bennet and his agency.
While this individual's actual name is unknown, his pseudonym is no doubt a reference to the most famous actor to portray "The Invisible Man" in cinema. Rains is also the only ID listed on this individual's assignment tracker profile, which has several classified sections. His birthplace is listed as Blackpool, England and his last known location is listed as London, England.
Though Claude has the power to become invisible to the naked eye, he cannot become inaudible. He seems to have the ability to make objects in direct contact with his body turn invisible, such as clothing or personal objects held close to his body. This is exemplified when Claude grabs a woman's purse and hands it to Peter, which becomes invisible as Peter holds it in his arms, only becoming visible when Claude leaves his mimicking range. However, people who are invisible are capable of seeing themselves and others who are invisible (though he has been able to override this at times, becoming invisible even to Peter Petrelli). He is also visible through thermal imaging, as when Mr. Bennet used infrared glasses to try and apprehend Claude.
The infrared aided attempt was not Noah Bennet's first encounter with Claude. From approximately 1991-1999 Noah Bennet was partnered with Claude as part of the Company. Prior to that, Claude's partner was a man known as Haram, who had no ability. In 1999 Claude was fired from the Company for protecting a special, whose identity has not yet been revealed. Termination from this organization took on a very literal and fatal meaning, as Noah Bennet was ordered to execute Claude. Noah did shoot Claude, but how Claude survived that in 1999, as he was very much alive in 2006 when Peter Petrelli met him, is a mystery yet to be solved.
Although the artist, Isaac Mendez was able to see and paint locations where the invisible Claude and Peter were, he could not see the men, nor could Isaac see Peter when he vanished in front of him. Other than Peter Petrelli, who can mimic the talents of any special around him, there has not as yet been any special who could see Claude when he is invisible without the use of thermal imaging.
