Germ cells are containment modules for holding former crime-fighting micro-ninjas who have turned to a life of crime, often under the manipulation of Mel Gibson or another evil-doer.

Germ cell is also a solitaire playing card game. Other necessary equipment includes a tub of Crisco, a lizard, a cockroach, 50 metric feet of garden hose, and a bottle of water. The rules are quite complex. Sylar is the current World Grand Master Champion. Mohinder Suresh is rumored to have a "higher" level of skill, but is currently too "hung up" on personal issues to take him on.
