Matt Parkman is an evolved person with telepathy. He is a former LAPD officer, currently on suspension. He was happily married to Janice Parkman until he "listened" to his partner's thoughts and discovered he was having an affair with Mrs. Parkman.

He left LA and moved to NYC to take care of Molly Walker with Mohinder. He is currently working as a detective for the NYPD investigating the death of Kaito Nakamura.

Matt has been located in the deserts of Africa. An unknown person has offered him help in finding his way back to the United States.

Matt is able to read the thoughts of others. This enabled him to finally pass his test with flying colors and gain a promotion. Recently, his powers have begun to grow. He has gained control of almost everything the brain controls. He can send his thoughts, leading to the conclusion that his power is more than just basic telepathy or mind reading. A dramatic growth in power resulted in Matt being capable of sealing his own father inside a mental prison.

His former wife is pregnant; it his not clear if he is the father. He divorced her and is now living in NYC.

He failed his detectives test in LA due to his dyslexia.
