Instead of a specific mentally-focus ability (e.g., telepathy or enhanced senses), enhanced intelligence flows from an unusual connectivity between neuronal circuits. The result of these connections is that previously disparate processing systems may be unified in such a way that information processing may result in greater creativity and problem solving.
While the human brain is famously adaptable (i.e., plastic), most people tend to have limits in the form of how their neuronal circuits form. Circuits in individuals with enhanced intelligence process information differently (note: this may make it difficult for telepaths to access their thoughts).
As their power grows, individuals with enhanced intelligence will grow less and less "human" in how they process information. This may result in a detachment from human understanding and human compassion. Be advised, these individuals will be extremely dangerous.
